Jake Dennis is a British racing driver who won the 2022–23 Formula E World Championship with Andretti, and finished runner-up in 2025–26. He has driven for the same team since his Formula E debut, and is also a factory driver for BMW.

Nuneaton He was born in Nuneaton and started karting at eight, winning the junior world championship in 2010. He took the Formula Renault Northern European Cup title in 2012 and the Autosport BRDC Award that year, finished third in the 2015 FIA Formula 3 European Championship and fourth in GP3 in 2016 — and then the single-seater route stopped.

Chapter 01

The Route That Closed

He grew up in Nuneaton, started karting at eight and won the junior world championship in 2010. The junior formulae followed and went well enough: the Formula Renault Northern European Cup title in 2012, the Autosport BRDC Award the same year, third in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2015 and fourth in GP3 in 2016. Then the ladder stopped. There was no Formula One seat and no obvious next rung, so he took two things instead. From 2018 he was Red Bull's simulator and development driver, work he was still doing years later and which eventually put him in a Formula One car for Friday practice at Abu Dhabi in 2023. And he went racing with a roof over his head — Blancpain and GT World Challenge, ADAC GT Masters, a season of DTM in 2019 in an Aston Martin, and the European Le Mans Series in 2020.

Chapter 02

Andretti

BMW i Andretti Motorsport put him in a Formula E car for 2020–21, and he finished third in the championship in his first season, winning at Valencia from pole in only his sixth start. BMW left at the end of that year and the team became a Porsche customer. In 2022 he took his first Grand Slam at the London ePrix, on home ground, leading all thirty-seven laps from pole with the fastest lap as well. The championship came the following season. He won the opener in Mexico City from second on the grid, having damaged his front wing in qualifying and been unable to replace it under parc fermé, passing the poleman early and finishing eight seconds clear — the first win of the Gen3 era. He finished on the podium eleven times that year, a record for a Formula E season, and sealed the title in London with a race still to run.

Chapter 03

Number One, and Back

He defended the championship carrying number 1 on the car, and it did not go to plan: one win, at Diriyah, by 13.289 seconds — the second-largest margin in the history of the series — and seventh overall. The following year was leaner still, seventh again and no wins at all. Then 2025–26 turned it round. Two victories and six podiums across a seventeen-race season took him to second in the championship behind Pascal Wehrlein, his best finish since the title. In February 2026 he signed another multi-year deal to stay with Andretti into the Gen4 era, which will make it the only Formula E team he has ever driven for.
