Jorge Martín (born 29 January 1998) is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer who won the 2024 MotoGP World Championship with Pramac, the first rider to take the premier-class title with an independent team. Jorge Martín: Full Biography

Jorge Martín is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer who won the MotoGP World Championship in 2024, the first rider to do so with an independent team. He rides the number 89 Aprilia and leads the 2026 championship.

Coming Up He took the Moto3 title in 2018 with seven wins and eleven pole positions, a qualifying record that has followed him ever since — forty-three poles across the three classes. Two Moto2 seasons with Red Bull KTM Ajo brought two wins and fifth overall in 2020.

Pramac He reached MotoGP with Pramac in 2021 and won at the Red Bull Ring in his rookie year. Four wins made him runner-up in 2023, and in 2024 three victories and sixteen podiums took the title on a satellite Ducati — something no rider had done before.

Aprilia He moved to Aprilia as champion for 2025 and barely rode: injuries limited him to seven starts and twenty-first place. The recovery has been emphatic. He won at Le Mans in May 2026, his first victory for the marque, and after twelve rounds leads the championship by thirty-one points. He joins Yamaha for 2027.

Chapter 01

Pramac

He arrived in Grand Prix racing in 2015 and took two years to score a podium, then found qualifying pace that has defined him: nine poles in 2017, eleven in 2018, and the Moto3 title with seven wins. Two Moto2 seasons followed with Red Bull KTM Ajo. Pramac gave him a MotoGP seat for 2021 and he won at the Red Bull Ring as a rookie. By 2023 he was taking four wins a season and finishing second in the championship, on satellite machinery, to a factory Ducati.

Chapter 02

Champion

The 2024 season came down to the final round in Barcelona, where third place was enough. Three race wins, sixteen podiums and 508 points made him champion — and made him the first rider to win the premier-class title riding for an independent team rather than a factory one. It had taken him four MotoGP seasons and a runner-up finish to get there.

Chapter 03

Aprilia

He left Ducati for Aprilia as reigning champion and then hardly raced. Injuries kept him out for most of 2025: seven starts, thirty-four points, twenty-first in the standings, and a spell in which he tried to leave the team altogether. He stayed. In May 2026 he won at Le Mans — the same circuit where he had wanted out a year earlier — for Aprilia's first Grand Prix win with him aboard, and led an Aprilia one-two-three. After twelve rounds he leads the championship on 240 points, thirty-one clear. Yamaha have signed him for 2027 and 2028.
