Peter Hickman: Full Biography
Peter John Hickman, known as Hicky, is an English motorcycle racer who has won fourteen races at the Isle of Man TT and holds the outright lap record of the Mountain Course — 16 minutes 36.114 seconds, an average of 136.358 mph, set on a BMW M1000RR in the second Superstock race of 2023. He is joint sixth on the TT’s all-time winners list.
Short Circuits He has raced in the British Superbike Championship since 2006, taking his first win at Cadwell Park in 2014 and a career-best fourth in the championship in 2017. He also rode in the Superbike World Championship in 2022, first as a Donington wild card and then standing in for Michael van der Mark at the factory BMW team.
Roads He learned the TT course by driving seventy laps of it in a hire car and watching video, and set a fastest-newcomer record on his 2014 debut. His father Dave was a Manx Grand Prix winner. He won the Ulster Grand Prix feature race in 2015 and the Macau Grand Prix in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2023.
The TT His first two wins came in 2018, three followed in 2019, and four in each of 2022 and 2023 — a haul in a single week matched only by Phillip McCallen and Michael Dunlop, and bettered only by Ian Hutchinson’s five in 2010. His fourteenth win came in the 2024 Superbike TT at 135.534 mph.
