Sergio Pérez: Full Biography
Sergio Pérez, known throughout the sport as Checo, is a Mexican racing driver who has taken six Grand Prix victories and 39 podium finishes from 292 starts. He races for Cadillac.
The Long Apprenticeship He arrived with Sauber in 2011 and took three podiums in his second season, which earned him a McLaren seat for 2013. That year did not work, and he rebuilt his career across six seasons at Force India and Racing Point, where he became known as one of the grid’s best tyre managers — a driver who could make a strategy work from further back than the car deserved.
Sakhir The win came in his 190th race. Spun to last place on the opening lap of the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, he came back through the field to win, the first Mexican to take a Grand Prix since Pedro Rodríguez. Red Bull signed him for the following season.
Red Bull and After Four seasons alongside Max Verstappen brought five more wins, two Constructors’ Championships and a career-best second place in the 2023 drivers’ standings. Red Bull dropped him at the end of 2024. He sat out 2025 and returned to the grid in 2026 with the new Cadillac team.
