What Is the Cadillac F1 Team?
Cadillac is a General Motors-backed Formula 1 team that made its debut at the 2026 Australian Grand Prix, operated by TWG Motorsports and running from four sites: Fishers in Indiana, Concord in North Carolina, Warren in Michigan and Silverstone in England.
It is the first entirely new constructor to join Formula 1 since Haas in 2016, and the eleventh team on the grid — the field was expanded rather than a seat vacated. The route was not straightforward. The project began in January 2023 as an Andretti Global bid partnered with General Motors, and the Formula One Group rejected it, arguing among other things that GM should build engines rather than buy them. TWG Global, led by Mark Walter, took over the operation in November 2024, and the entry was given tentative approval that month and final approval in March 2025. GM paid a $450 million expansion fee.
For 2026 the cars run Ferrari power units while GM Performance Power Units develops an engine of its own, due in 2029, at a facility under construction in Concord. Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas — 16 Grand Prix wins between them before joining — are the drivers, with Marcin Budkowski as team principal.
