What Is Ferrari AF Corse?

AF Corse is the Italian team, founded in 1995 and based at Piacenza under Amato Ferrari, that runs Ferrari’s factory sports-car racing. For most of its history that meant GT racing — the 458 Italia and then the 488 GTE, with a long list of GT2, GTE-Pro and endurance class championships behind it.

In 2023 Ferrari returned to the top class of endurance racing with the 499P Hypercar, entered as Ferrari AF Corse. It won the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the first attempt, in the race’s centenary year, giving Ferrari its first overall victory since 1965.

It won again in 2024 with the works car, and in 2025 the customer AF Corse entry took a third in a row — the yellow number 83 of Robert Kubica, Phil Hanson and Yifei Ye.

Era 01 · 1995—2015

The GT Years

AF Corse was founded in 1995 and became the team Ferrari trusted with its GT racing. The 458 Italia carried it through a run of GT2 and GTE-Pro championships, and the red cars from Piacenza were a fixture of the Le Mans class battles for a decade and more.

Overall victory was not on the table. The top class belonged to Audi, then Porsche.

Era 02 · 2016—2022

The 488 and the Wait

The 488 GTE replaced the 458 and kept winning in class. AF Corse took GTE-Pro titles and Le Mans class wins, and Ferrari stayed out of the top category.

Then the Hypercar rules arrived and made a factory return worth making.

Era 03 · 2023—

The 499P and Three in a Row

Ferrari came back to the top class in 2023 with the 499P, entered as Ferrari AF Corse, and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans on its first attempt — in the centenary running of the race, and fifty-eight years after Ferrari's previous overall win.

It won again in 2024. In 2025 the customer AF Corse car, the number 83 of Kubica, Hanson and Ye, made it three straight.
