What Is LCR Honda?

LCR — Lucio Cecchinello Racing — is an independent Grand Prix team based in Monte Carlo, founded in 1996 by Lucio Cecchinello while he was still competing as a rider himself. He remains its team principal.

It entered the premier class in 2006 on the Honda RC211V and has run Honda machinery since. Three MotoGP victories have come its way: Cal Crutchlow won the Czech and Australian Grands Prix in 2016, and Johann Zarco won the French Grand Prix in 2025.

LCR has never won a premier-class riders’ or teams’ championship. It did win the MotoE teams’ championship in 2025 — a separate, electric class, and not counted among the figures above.

Cecchinello's Own Team

Lucio Cecchinello set up LCR in 1996 while still racing, running the team from the saddle in the smaller Grand Prix classes.

It is one of the few teams on the grid founded by a rider who was still competing at the time.

Into MotoGP with Honda

LCR reached the premier class in 2006 with the Honda RC211V and has run Honda machinery ever since, as one of the manufacturer's independent teams.

Cal Crutchlow gave the team its first two victories in 2016, at the Czech and Australian Grands Prix.

Zarco, and a MotoE Title

Johann Zarco won the 2025 French Grand Prix for LCR, the team's third premier-class victory and the first by a Frenchman at Le Mans in a very long time.

The same year LCR took the MotoE teams' championship — its first title, though in a different class from the one this page counts.
