What Is Pramac Racing?

Pramac Racing is an Italian independent MotoGP team based at Casole d’Elsa in Tuscany, run by Paolo Campinoti with Gino Borsoi as team manager. It entered the premier class in 2002 on a Honda NSR500, taking over Hardwick Racing’s activities.

From 2004 it ran Ducati machinery, a partnership that lasted twenty years. Its first premier-class victory came at the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix with Jorge Martín. In 2023 it became the first independent team to win the MotoGP teams’ championship, and in 2024 Martín took the riders’ title — the first champion from an independent team in the MotoGP era, the previous one being Valentino Rossi with Nastro Azzurro Honda in 2001.

Pramac switched to Yamaha machinery for 2025 and also runs a Moto2 team.

Era 01 · 2002—2003

Honda, and Starting Out

Pramac entered the premier class in 2002 with a Honda NSR500, taking over the activities of Hardwick Racing. These were the two-stroke championship's final seasons and the team was making up numbers rather than results.

Era 02 · 2004—2024

Twenty Years with Ducati

From 2004 Pramac ran Ducati machinery, and the partnership lasted two decades. Johann Zarco, Jack Miller and Danilo Petrucci all rode for it, and the first premier-class victory came at the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix with Jorge Martín.

Then came the two that count: the teams' championship in 2023 and the riders' championship in 2024, both firsts for an independent team.

Yamaha

Pramac left Ducati after twenty years and took Yamaha machinery for 2025, becoming Yamaha's independent team. Jack Miller rides for it.

Most of this collection is still from the Ducati years, which is where the championships are.
