What Is Visa Cash App Racing Bulls?

Racing Bulls is the second Formula 1 team owned by Red Bull, based at Faenza in Italy and operating as a development squad for Oracle Red Bull Racing. It exists because Red Bull bought the Minardi team in 2005 and renamed it Scuderia Toro Rosso for 2006.

The team has carried four names from the same factory: Toro Rosso until 2019, AlphaTauri from 2020, RB in 2024 and Visa Cash App Racing Bulls since 2025. Its purpose has always been to give young drivers a seat and, if they are quick enough, a route to the senior team — Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz, Max Verstappen, Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda all came through it.

Twice it has beaten everyone. Sebastian Vettel won the 2008 Italian Grand Prix from pole, his first win and the first for an Italian-based team other than Ferrari since 1957. Pierre Gasly won the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, the first victory by a French driver in 24 years. Both came at Monza.

Era 01 · 2006—2019

Toro Rosso

Red Bull bought Minardi in 2005 and the team raced as Scuderia Toro Rosso from 2006, keeping the Faenza factory and the Italian identity.

Its defining day came in September 2008, when Sebastian Vettel took pole in the wet at Monza and won the race — the team's first victory, Vettel's first, and the first for an Italy-based constructor other than Ferrari since the 1957 German Grand Prix. The years that followed were spent doing the job the team was built for: finding drivers. Ricciardo, Verstappen, Sainz and Gasly all made their debuts here.

Era 02 · 2020—2023

AlphaTauri

The team was renamed for Red Bull's clothing brand in 2020, and won again almost immediately. Pierre Gasly — dropped by the senior team a year earlier — won the 2020 Italian Grand Prix at the same circuit, the first French winner in 24 years.

The seasons that followed were harder, with Yuki Tsunoda developing over four years and the team fighting at the back of the midfield.

Era 03 · 2024—Present

Racing Bulls

A rebrand to RB in 2024, then to Visa Cash App Racing Bulls in 2025. The team's role has not changed: Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar both raced here before being considered for the senior seat, and Hadjar was promoted to Red Bull Racing for 2026.

The team scored one podium under the new name and runs the same Red Bull Ford power unit as the senior team.
